Making the decision to begin orthodontic treatment can be a little scary but the end result is worth it. We’ll talk you through each step in the treatment process, but here is a guide as to what will happen along your orthodontic treatment journey.
Your first visit with us will be a 15-30 minute consultation so we can find out what you would like to achieve from your treatment. We will do a comprehensive clinical and radiological examination during this visit which helps us to determine your orthodontic needs. We will then present you with our recommended treatment options. During this appointment you will have the opportunity to ask questions or express any concerns you may have about your treatment
If, at your initial consultation, you are assessed as ready for treatment, we will then take your initial records. This involves digital photographs, radiographs of your teeth and jaws and impressions to fabricate a model of your teeth. This can also be done at a later stage if you’re not deemed to be ready for treatment just yet.
Once the impressions of your teeth have been used to make your braces, we will invite you back to the clinic to have them fitted. This is when your treatment really begins. Over the next 12-24 months, depending on the length of time of your treatment, you will need to come in for regular appointments so we can check the progress of your treatment.
At the end of your treatment, you will be fitted with a retainer. This is an important step in your treatment plan as it helps to keep your teeth straight in their new position.
